The 20th Anniversary Celebration of Australian Minnan Association (AMA) and the 10th Inauguration Ceremony for the President and Committee Members was attended by nearly 600 participants, including dignitaries, honored guests, association members, and their family and friends.
The dignitaries in attendance included Mark Coure, who is the representative of the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Labor leader Jodi McKay, Hong Jixiang, who is the president of the Philippines Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Gao Mingqing, who is the president of Fujian Business Federation.
In the talk, the guest speakers praised the achievements of the former president of the Australian Minnan Association, John Huang, and also offered congratulations to the current president, Andy Hong, and the10th committee members.
In the speech, the former president, John Huang, expressed his gratitude to all the participants who witness the transition of the committee, and to all the individuals, the former committee, the association members and the fellows for their support, guidance and encouragement to make association activities run smoothly.

In the speech, Andy Hong, who succeeds to the presidency, stated that the Australian Minnan Association is like a big family of hometown fellows living in Australia where people in this family share the same dialect, cuisine, lifestyle and hometown topics.Andy Hong also expressed his gratitude to the founding President of Australian Minnan Association, Zhuang Weijie, and the 1st committee who took the lead in establishing this platform, which has been scaling up to thousands of association members as a result of all successive presidents and committees. During this period, hometown fellows actively participated and generously contributed to the annual grand traditional Mid- Autumn Festival Gala.

President Andy Hong also said AMA developed from nothing to something with increasing association members and improved reputation is attributed to all successive committees who are open to discussions and suggestions and adhere to the solidarity of the Minan tradition, and to all association members and fellow townsmen who adhere to Minnan ancient customs which is “No Pain No Gain”. The fellow townsmen were keeping strongly supporting and actively participating in association activities. Andy Hong believed that the Australian Minnan Association will keep moving forward with the support of the new committee.
President Andy Hong also expressed his special gratitude to Chen Yunming, who is the president of the Australian Chineses Buddist Society for the consistent consideration and support, especially in the process of preparing this celebration. President Chen Yunming had carefully instructed and strongly support the preparation of the celebration.
Australian Minnan Association’s 20th anniversary and the inauguration of the 10th president and committee members was held in The Eight Modern Restaurant located in Chinatown. During the ceremony, in addition to committee transition, Hong Jixiang also exchanged souvenirs with the new president and main members of the committee.

The ceremony includes two main parts, which are celebration and inauguration. He Yanjun, Ding Ding, Zhang Qiang, and Ye Miao jointly served as the emcee. During the ceremony, there are dance and singing shows for entertaining guests.
