“2025 Mid-Autumn Festival Cake Champion King Grand Prix and Gala” of the Australian Minnan Association was held in Sydney

On October 5, the “2025 Mid-Autumn Festival Cake Champion King of Kings Grand Prix and Gala” hosted by the Australian Minnan Hometown Association was held in Sydney. The event attracted hundreds of guests from the political and business circles, overseas Chinese circles and the southern Fujian community in Sydney to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, experience the folk customs of southern Fujian, inherit Chinese culture, and unite the hearts and strength of overseas Chinese.

On the afternoon of the 5th, the highly anticipated Mid-Autumn Festival cake event took the lead. The dice clinked, the laughter was full, and the scene was very lively. As a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival folk custom originating from southern Fujian, Bo cake is not only a fun competition, but also carries the deep meaning of reunion, sharing and cultural inheritance. After many rounds of competition, awards at all levels were announced one after another, and the scene was filled with a festive and peaceful festive atmosphere.

The evening gala kicked off with the solemn Australian national anthem and the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China. Mr. Hong Jingwei, President of the Australian Minnan Hometown Association, first delivered a speech, expressing his warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the guests and villagers and friends attending the event. He pointed out that the Mid-Autumn Festival is an important symbol of the emotional bond of the Chinese nation, and at this moment of the full moon, the local dialect and nostalgia of southern Fujian transcend time and space, connecting the hearts of overseas travelers. President Hong said that the cake event not only continues the cultural traditions passed down from generation to generation by the people of southern Fujian, but also integrates joy, reunion and gratitude in its unique form, becoming one of the most representative annual events of the association. He reviewed the achievements of the Association in cultural exchanges, charity and community building in the past year, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the directors, volunteers and villagers who have made silent contributions to this purpose. President Hong stressed that in the future, the Association will continue to uphold the purpose of “uniting nostalgia, inheriting culture, and serving the society”, and further build a platform for communication and mutual assistance, so that the roots of southern Fujian culture can take root and sprout in the fertile soil overseas. Strathfield State Councillor Li Yat-sin , Strathfield Mayor Cai Dingjie, Georges River Deputy Mayor Liu Naxin and Parramatta Deputy Mayor Chen Xiao were also invited to attend and deliver speeches, highly praising the contribution of the Minnan Association in promoting multicultural integration, promoting friendly exchanges between Australia and China, and strengthening community cohesion, and extended Mid-Autumn Festival blessings to the majority of Minnan villagers.

The video congratulations of Cai Zhifeng, Minister Counsellor and Consul General of the Chinese Embassy in Australia, and Gao Mingqing, President of the Australian Fujian Federation of Industry and Commerce, extended Mid-Autumn Festival greetings to the hometown association and villagers, and affirmed their contributions to cultural inheritance and the construction of overseas Chinese communities.

At the award ceremony held afterwards, the organizing committee presented awards to this year’s Cake Champion, List and Tanhua in recognition of their good luck and achievements. The theatrical performances were also exciting, with dance, solo, children’s ballet, chorus and other programs appearing in turn, with bursts of applause and a warm atmosphere. Multiple rounds of lucky draws pushed the party to one climax after another, and the laughter was filled with the joy of reunion.

The party ended successfully in the chorus of “Ruan is from southern Fujian” and “Love to fight to win”. Bright smiles and warm applause brought this Mid-Autumn Festival event that integrated tradition and modernity, culture and emotion to a successful end.
